Mental Health First Aid England are currently looking for support to help them in their campaign to raise pressure on the government to increase mental health support in workplaces across the country.
Their petition, which can be found here – https://www.change.org/p/sarah-newton-make-it-compulsory-to-have-a-mental-health-first-aider-at-work-wheresyourheadat – is calling for the government to change health and safety law so that companies are required to offer mental health support to their workers.
With 1 in 4 people suffering from mental health problems every year, it is only right that workplaces play their role in raising awareness of these problems and helping with the treatment of these problems.
Jim Cunningham MP said:
Since I became an MP, the understanding of the importance of mental health has grown massively, both for politicians and the public as a whole. We have made great progress, but there is still a lot more to be done so that we finally treat mental health with the same importance we treat physical health.
I urge everyone to sign up to the #wheresyourheadat petition, so that workplaces are required to offer the support for people with mental health problems that we all deserve.
